Day 1891: Moving Targets

At work today I was asked to migrate the complaints from customers from our current system, to the parent companies system, so that everything can be aligned. Sure, I thought, that’s totally do-able, and so I set to work on the first of the complaints that I needed to add. Actually I needed to start from the beginning of 2018 so there is a bunch of complaints in the system, and they can be traced correctly. So I picked an old complaint, the first of 2018 and began on my task.

It turns out that this is no small task, and is currently not possible. The complaints cannot be submitted without certain information. Of that information, some is sensitive, such as peoples names and email addresses. I’m not certain it complies with GDPR regulations so I thought, I’ll try and do as much as I can, but that wasn’t really possible. I would then needed to have gone to find out what information we have had consent to store and add into these files.

As we have essentially been a private entity, and have out own customer base, rather than the parent companies customers, customer details are not present, and cannot be manually input. All in all the job isn’t do-able until the information has been input. What I thought would be a simple bit of work, quickly expanded and became a crazy large sprawling task that I don’t know if I can actually complete.

That’s part one. Part two of this crazy adventure we call life in this journal today, is that Path of Exile has just had an update. I had no idea what I wanted to do, what build I wanted to play, but I know now there are three build I want to play, and don’t know where to start.

I was thinking at the beginning of the week about playing a Fireball Inquisitor, a Soulrend Trickster and a Storm Brand Hierophant. All of which are casters, and casting just got a big buff. Fireball is interesting in that it’s got a massive buff, and should be a very interesting way to play. Storm Brand is a build I was working on last season and looks to be just as strong. But Soulrend is a new skill and I really wanted to give it a go, and see where it fits.

All week we’ve been drip fed new information about how the skills work and it’s kept me thinking about what different things I want to try. I want to try and hit 24/40 challenges complete this league, and I hope that I can make more progress in the game than I have before. I’m hopeful that at least one of these builds will be able to get me somewhere. I’m looking forward to getting things moving, but I know it’s going to take some work. I’ve even spent a lot of the week using an application to plan out how I’ll use the skill tree and which support gems I want to pick.

Have an excellent day! You’re all my favourites!
